The gaming industry is booming with a number of games released everyday. Most of these games fail to see the light of the day but the ones that do are infact, very exciting. Games nowadays are not just a bunch of animated square pixels, but have evolved over time most of them like the AAA titles, deliver a true to life graphics quality experience.
But, as the quality of the games has improved so much over the last few years so has the hardware needs of these AAA titles. Most of the games require some high end specifications for having a smooth experience.
Although, few of the latest games can run on a PC which is quite old and meets the minimum system requirements of the games but, the gaming experience is not very smooth and the game is barely playable. To have a smooth experience with fps ranging from a minimum 40 fps to the golden 60 frames per second, you definitely need a modern high end graphics card, a decent processor and some good amount of ram.
We recommend atleast a core i3 processor, a nvidia GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon 560 and atleast 8GB of Ram.
Not everyone can invest money on building a PC for gaming or buy a gaming console but, no one would mind playing the latest games on their good for nothing old PCs. Which brings us back to the question - How can we play latest games on old PC?
There are chances that you have read about the various software applications like the infamous 3D-Analyser, which claim to run latest games on your old PC. But these softwares are merely emulators, and they only fool the game to make it believe that the PC has the required specifications. And honestly speaking, emulator is only an emulator and mocking an actual hardware through software will only work at par with your actual hardware or even worse. These softwares can only allow you to play games for which your PC already has the juice but is not able to run them due to compatibility issues with minimum specifications as laid down by the developers.
Other interesting posts -
Although software emulators do not always work, the good news here is that we have another (kind of) software which will definitely let you play games at 60fps on you old PC. And this comes straight from nvidia, so you can be assured of the authenticity.
Nvidia calls this GeForce Now. GeForce Now lets you to harness the computational power of the high end nvidia servers via cloud computing and use that to run games on your PC. You are not actually running the game on your PC, it is just an interactive stream of the game. Nvidia promises to deliver a constant 60fps for every game you play.
There are certain aspects that must be known to you before you blindly grab on the deal. GeForce Now requires a high speed broadband connection for reduced latency as it is actually a live stream just like twitch but is interactive so ensure that you have a high speed internet connection, preferably an ethernet connection of atleast 20mbps (upload and download), so you don't get into annoying latency issues.
GeForce Now is a paid service, where you need to pay for each game you want to play alongwith the monthly charges. Also, the service is not currently available across the globe, and is limited to the US. So, folks outside US might have to wait. For the US residents out there, nvidia has launched the beta program, which is available for free, so quickly grab a spot there.
This ends our discussion for today on how to play latest games on old PC. What do you guys think should one go with GeForce Now or invest in hardware? Let us know in the comment section below.
