How Google helped save people from the “Good Morning” message flood!!

In the recent times there had been a huge increase in the number of people all over the world that are actively using internet for various purposes and this increment in the number of internet users is largely observed in the social networking sector. This has also lead to a steady increase in the amount of data that is transferred over the web and also stored on our devices.

This increased amount of data exchange among users had given rise to growing concern among the users – the limited storage capabilities of their devices.

According to a survey by data-storage firm Western Digital Corp. one in three smartphone users in India run out of space daily in India and one in ten smartphone users run out of space daily in the United States.

Countries such as India has a large number of active Whatsapp users. On this New Year’s Eve India set out a record 20 billion message exchange greetings, more than any other country in the world.

India is largely a mobile first market, with a majority of population experiencing the power of internet on the smartphone and having missed the personal computing and desktop internet wave, a large portion of the users especially the adults (30 - 45 years of age) are leveraging the use of personal communication apps like whatsapp to stay in touch with their friends and family.

Owing to this surge in the user base, a recent report in the Wall Street Journal explored a concern over the rise of 'Good Morning' messages that many Indian Whatsapp users were sharing with each other. Had these messages been in form of simple text, this would not be a great concern but people in India have stepped one step further and are constantly sharing images with Good Morning text embedded like the ones shown below as one of their daily errands.
Engineers at Google Inc. stepped up and attempted to solve this issue that masses were facing and then Google launched their new app - Google Files GO. Google Files GO helps users to clear unwanted media from their devices by searching the whole storage space for specific types of files. The app makes use of machine learning and AI. It has been trained using the Google's own large image database and has significantly helped to identify such images and delete them to free up that valuable storage.

According to Google, this app searches for files with a specific size and quality to identify them. If you are also experiencing the same problems due to lack of storage space then give this app a try and let us know how helpful it was for you in the comments section down below.
