WhatsApp just announced a new version of their popular social networking app for SMEs (small businesses) named as WhatsApp Business. The standalone app acts as a simple tool for small businesses to help them communicate with their clients and customers very easily. The app was initially announced by Facebook-owned WhatsApp to be launched in September last year but as of now the app is available to download officially in a handful of markets including Italy, US, UK, India and Mexico.

The WhatsApp Business app can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store. It is compatible with android devices running Android 4.0.3 or above. A version similar to the above is expected to arrive for the iOS devices soon.
With this new version of WhatsApp, the Facebook-owned company aims to target small businesses which can leverage the power of social networking in their palms and also help them manage their businesses easily by providing them an easy way to communicate with their clients and customers. The app provides some key features such as -
- Allows businesses to create their own profiles by providing information such as business description, email, store addresses and websites.
- Provides smart messaging tools which enable quick replies to frequently asked questions.
- The app also has options to send greetings to new clients or a set away message for times when their is load or company is busy.
Along with all these there are metrics such as number of messages read and WhatsApp Web which allows users to access WhatsApp from there PCs directly.
WhatsApp is widely used in countries such as India, according to the official data provided in the month of February last year, WhatsApp had more than 200 million monthly active users in India alone. This app targetted at the small and medium businesses can be a great asset for such business owners and they can significantly improve the quality of their business operation such as customer handling in much better way than they used to do in the past. WhatsApp is giving stiff competition to rivals by providing attractive features like 24 hour status (WhatsApp story), Youtube Integration and Notification Channel support for Android Oreo (Check out Oreo's latest features) and Delete for everyone being our personal favourite option is also an added advantage to the app.
