Google in it's earlier Keynote has talked about a new version of their popular operating system Android and has called this new version as Android Go. The new operating system 'Android Go' was aimed to be the operating system for low powered devices which struggle to run a full fledged version of android operating system due to their low level specifications.
Android Go is capable of running in smartphones with as low as 512MB of RAM as claimed by Google. Google has also been working on the GO versions of it's popular android applications like Youtube, Gmail, Chrome etc. All these new lighter or slimmed applications were in the news recently but now Google has announced that it will be launching the very first devices which will be running on the slimmed version of the OS which is 'Android Go' at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona.
There has been no information about the specifications of these devices but since they will be rocking the Android Go OS so, it can be speculated that the hardware is not going to be top of the line as that would completely defeat the purpose of a lightweight operating system.
The thing that makes these smartphones more exciting are the Go version of the apps that will run on these devices. These Go versions of the applications such as Gmail and Youtube take up very less space and other resources when compared to their contrary versions on the main OS and all that without losing most of the utility of these applications.

It will be exciting to see the how these smartphones with low level specifications running on Android Go compete with the smartphones with better resources running on a widely accepted OS. Also, the development ecosystem of the Android Go OS has not matured enough so, support for many applications cannot be expected very soon. Although, Google seems to be quite determined on providing support for all the majorly used utility apps on the Go version of the OS as well.
What do you think of Android Go devices? Will they find a space for themselves in the highly competitive market or will they just get shadowed by the more powerful offerings by Google and other manufacturers. Let us know in the comment section down below.
