The dual camera setup at the back of the smartphone is pretty much a standard these days but, Nokia has moved one step further by implementing a penta camera setup in their rumoured flagship.
Nokia (licensed by Finland's HMD Global) successfully made use of the Zeiss optics in their android family of smartphones. Now, there are rumours that Nokia is about to bring a penta camera setup in their rumoured upcoming flagship - Nokia 10.
Some raw sketches of the device have surfaced which show the penta camera setup at the back.
According to the details spotted by the NokiaPowerUser in the leaked sketches the penta camera setup looks like a dual camera setup that is common these days. There is a primary lens which is a fixed focal length lens and above it are 3 secondary lenses with varying focal lengths which are present in a camera assembly that can be rotated.
By rotating the camera assembly users can achieve the desired effects like the depth-of-field effect or the bokeh effect in those portrait shots. This is similar to what Zeiss explained in their video tweet in the last July.
Zeiss has also filed a patent application with a German patent and trademark office confirming the development if such technology. The patent application describes that the technology is based on an array of additional lenses that have different focal lengths and are mounted on a rotating lens base that sits between the camera sensor and a normal fixed-focal lens.
