In October 2017, Google announced a new camera - Google Clips. Clips is an artificial intelligence based camera that can automatically shoot photos at the right moment.
Google clips is uses an advanced machine learning model to identify the correct moments to click a photo. It also shoots a photo automatically whenever it sees something interesting. You can expect it to shoot a perfect photo of your friend who is just about to slip :P but, we can't say for sure if it will or not.
Google is targeting the parents who click a lot of clips. The idea behind the product is that instead of wasting time looking for a camera and setting things up which often lead to missing that right moment, we will have a camera that sits in the background waiting for that moment and captures it instantly.
Some people would not be onboard with the idea of a camera always watching them but, according to Google the Clips camera does not need an active internet connection and works using its own hardware and an offline machine learning model stored locally.
Google Clips camera is expected to be priced at around $249 and Google is also providing free shipping facility. The bad news here is that as of now Google has stopped taking orders for the clips camera and is directing potential customers to be on a waiting list. Google will contact these potential customers when they have the product in stock again.
