What to expect from Android P

Even though, Google's latest offering of their android operating system - Android Oreo is still slowly rolling out to devices and as of now only 1.1% of android smartphones are running the latest version of the OS. But, this hasn't stopped Google from working hard on the next version of the android OS which is the Android P.

Android P best features of android 9

The war between Google and Apple for building the perfect operating system for smartphones is at it's peak and while Apple reportedly is focussed on stability in their iOS 12 upgrade, we today list here all the exciting upcoming and expected features of Google's next version of their android OS - "Android P".

Support for 'NOTCH'!!
Yes, you read it right. Google might be bringing native support for the notch design in Android P. iPhone X has the notch and has received a mixed response from Apple users but majority of the users don't have any issues with the notch. There is also one android smartphone that has embraced the notch much before the iPhone X which is the Essential Phone. Moreover, there are rumours that Google's own Pixel 3 might also have the notch design so, it is quite possible that the Android P has native support for the notch design.

Dark Mode is coming!!
The number of devices sporting a high resolution OLED panel is increasing owing to the better contrast, pitch black colour and other advantages associated with an OLED panel. Battery consumption can be decreased significantly by turning some of the pixels of the OLED panel off (yes, it can be done) and just lighting up the ones which are displaying the information in foreground. Android P's dark mode is aimed at just this. Dark Mode provides a better way of improving battery life of smartphones with OLED panels.

P for Privacy
Google introduced users with app permissions in Android 6.0 Marshmallow. But, a major drawback of the current system in which permissions work is that once you give access permission to an application then, that application can use the associated tools whenever it wishes. This means that an app might still be using your camera or microphone while it is running in the background. With Android P, this would change as now any app regardless of it having access rights to a resource will not be able to use the tools associated with that permission grant like camera or audio recording via microphone in the background. The app needs to be opened to access any of those resources.

Smarter and faster Google Assistant
Google Assistant is facing stiff competition from the rival virtual assistants like Apple's Siri and Amazon Alexa. Although, Google Assistant is still better than its rivals at handling majority of tasks but there are things that others manage to do better than Google Assistant. Google is thus, planning to improve Google Assistant and may also make it open for other developers to integrate it within their apps for enhances functionality just like Amazon Alexa which will help Google Assistant to perform application specific tasks such as uploading a snap on Instagram. This improved version of Google Assistant can be expected to ship along with Android P.

Will Google deliver all these features in Android P or not, will be revealed somewhere in August 2018 when the Android 9.0 i.e. Android P will be out.
